Optimism airdrop checker
Optimism, also called OP Mainnet, is a layer 2 network for Ethereum that uses the same 0x addresses. Its OP token was first distributed in Optimism's Airdrop #1 in 2022. PoolIndex checks a public address on Optimism for OP and other coins and tokens that may have been forgotten there.
You only paste the public 0x address. PoolIndex never asks for your seed phrase or private key.
OP Airdrop #1
Optimism's first airdrop went to early users of the network, active Ethereum users and DAO voters. PoolIndex treats OP Airdrop #1 as a closed program: it confirms the official OP token contract on Optimism and shows the program as closed, with a link to Optimism's official site. Like most airdrops, it was based on activity before a snapshot date, so a wallet created later could not have been on the list.
PoolIndex doesn't check later Optimism airdrop rounds. For those, use Optimism's official pages. If a site offers a new OP airdrop, find the announcement on Optimism's official channels yourself before doing anything.
OP tokens already in your wallet
Many people claimed OP years ago and then forgot it. PoolIndex checks the OP token balance of your address on Optimism, along with USDC, WETH and DAI, and ETH on the network itself.
There is a second reason to check the balance. In September 2023, Optimism sent about 48 million unclaimed OP from Airdrop #1 directly to about 88,000 eligible addresses. If your address was one of them, those OP may already be in the wallet, even though you never claimed.
It also checks Aave v3 deposits of USDC and WETH on Optimism. A deposit made during a past incentive program may still be sitting in Aave, earning interest, long after the incentives ended.
Optimism and the networks around it
Optimism is built on the OP Stack, the same software that runs Base. The networks share address formats but not balances: ETH on Optimism, ETH on Base and ETH on Ethereum mainnet are three separate balances. PoolIndex checks each of them for the same address in one scan.
You can confirm any Optimism balance yourself in the Optimism block explorer by pasting the same public address.
Why balances on Optimism get forgotten
Optimism often reached people as a cheaper place to use Ethereum apps. Someone bridges a little ETH to try an app, earns a few OP from an incentive program, and moves on. The funds stay on Optimism, but the wallet app keeps showing Ethereum mainnet, so the balance looks like it has disappeared.
It hasn't. Coins on Optimism stay there until someone with the wallet's keys moves them. A scan that checks the same address on several networks at once is the simplest way to find them again.
What the Optimism check does not cover
To keep results honest, here is what PoolIndex does not check on Optimism: later OP airdrop rounds, governance delegation rewards and tokens outside the list above. A result of nothing found means nothing was found in the sources that were checked, and the list of checked sources is shown with it.
Before you move coins on Optimism
Fees on Optimism are paid in ETH on Optimism, so you need a small ETH balance there to move tokens. Fees are usually low compared with Ethereum mainnet. Only use bridges and apps you open yourself from their official sites.
If a result shows OP or another token you had forgotten, take your time. Confirm the balance in the Optimism block explorer first, then decide what to do with it in your own wallet.
How it works
Install PoolIndex.
Get PoolIndex for Windows from the Microsoft Store, or the Android app from Google Play.
Register and verify your email.
The free plan lets you check 1 wallet and 5 links a month.
Paste your Optimism address.
It is the same 0x address you use on Ethereum and Base.
Read the Optimism results.
Balances, Aave positions and the OP Airdrop #1 status, each with the network and how it was checked.
PoolIndex never asks for your seed phrase or private key. You can check a public address without connecting a wallet.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I still claim OP Airdrop #1?
- PoolIndex treats OP Airdrop #1 as a closed program. Check Optimism's official site for the current status of any OP distribution.
- Does PoolIndex check later Optimism airdrops?
- No. It covers OP Airdrop #1 as a closed program, plus OP and other token balances. For later rounds, use Optimism's official pages.
- Do I need to connect a wallet?
- No. PoolIndex checks using your public wallet address only, the same address anyone can already see on the blockchain. It never asks for your seed phrase or private key.
- Why don't I see my OP tokens in my wallet app?
- Your wallet app may be set to Ethereum mainnet. Switch it to OP Mainnet, or paste the address into the Optimism block explorer, to see balances there.
- Do I need ETH on Optimism to check my address?
- No. The check reads public data and costs nothing. You need a small amount of ETH on Optimism only if you later want to move tokens there.
- Is Optimism the same as Base?
- No. Both are built on the OP Stack and use the same 0x addresses, but they are separate networks with separate balances. PoolIndex checks both.
